The Fall 2012 collection featured a bevy of well structured boyfriend coats and blazers for both men/women. Tons of menswear influences, which is Chai's strong point, we look forward to seeing what the newly appointed Creative Director of Filson will produce in months to come.

The luxe knitwear designer added texture and prints to her expertise with pretty pops of color to accentuate the fall/winter collection.

JOHN BARTLETT

Menswear designer drew on the inspiration of "Lord of the Flies' with well structured outdoor knits and jackets all with the use of eco-friendly fabrics and materials.

TIM HAMILTON

Tim Hamilton Men's RTW gave a flair of the East Village underground type, but managed to keep a modern aesthetic with his signature layering, semi-harem pants and moto jackets.

ASSEMBLY New York

A not-so-subtle, but very warmly welcomed, men-inspired line shows clean-cut lines, minimalistic colors, and simple pairings. A neat collection that does not have a lot of wows, frills or showstoppers, but a collection full of pieces perfect for long term wears and life long investment pieces.

TITANIA INGLIS

With a clear 90s grunge inspiration, Titania Inglis brings out our inner rebels through cut-outs, angles, sheer fabrics and plaid flannel galore. While not an exact replica of 90s fashion (thankfully), the refined and updated look and feel is seemingly perfect for the upcoming year. Not too grungy, punky or old school, the line is rather refreshing and has us wishing the 90s looked more like this.

Perfectly paired with Doc Martens combat boots, this collection has us all feeling very nostalgic for the good ol’ 90s, Spice Girls, and a Friends marathon.

BILLY REID

With a focus on Parisian sophistication, the Billy Reid RTW Fall 2012 line is polished, tailored and effortless. Gone were the days of outdoorsy manly-men and in with the men of the future: the no-fuss, well-dressed generation. The evident European inspiration did not deviate from the Americana style of the designer but, instead, added to the posh tone of the collection.

GRETCHEN JONES

The Southwest comes to life through Gretchen Jones’ desert-inspired collection. Full of darkness, with spurts of life and hope, the inspiration behind the collection is literary rather than visual. A heavy dose of turquoise, burnt orange and black, the earthy tones only add to the story telling. With gems and stones aplenty, every detail, down to the nails that resembled turquoise stones, were planned out with great execution. The collection has a very native feel that will have you wondering where the cactuses are.

My brother asked me an important question in regards to my loyalty. New York Giants or SF 49ers. Just because I am bicoastal, does not mean I forget my roots. Born and raised in San Francisco, I got detention for a week in 7th grade AND grounded at home, for cutting class to go see the Niners Superbowl victory parade in the 90's. So worth it. If you're an L.A. girl, you've seen and met Mallyce Miller at our pop-up's at Space 15 Twenty. She's very outgoing, knows how to hustle her brand Laeken, a great collaborator and like us is obsessed with the "NEW, THE NEXT, and THE INNOVATIVE." Designer and Trend Forecaster, Mallyce has been a part of the fashion industry for 11 years and now consults with contemporary brands like Kill City, Guy Baxter and Wasteland. What is Trend Forecasting? "It’s about paying attention to the different & the diverse, the patterns that we recognize & the anomalies that disrupt & confound them."

This month we feature the brand LAEKEN and its designer Mallyce Miller in our Creative Spotlight.

Since street style plays an influence in the Laeken collection, whose personal style do you most admire?

I've always been a big fan of Nikki Moose's street style from the blog Dirty Flaws. I would die to have her closet, but I would have to keep some of my own color in there. I can't wear black all the time.

(For the novices) What are Do's and Don't for designing in tie-dye?

Do be creative and invent your own. Do try one crazy dye on top of another. Right now I am doing a collaboration with JOLYN a swimwear line (http://jolynclothing.com) and I'm putting one crazy snake print dye over a marbled dye. I'm excited, the designs will be out in a couple of months.

Don't have expectations.. Dyes are really hard, dyes change depending on the amount you dye, the fabric, the weight, the color, the treatment. You can tell them "make it look like this" and you will get a completely different outcome. I'm used to it by now, but you have to sample A LOT, because you never know what it's going to look like. Sometimes the samples come out horribly, and other times they come out completely different than wanted but turn out more amazing than I could have imagined.

Best advice you've been given in regards to starting your own line?

Learn under someone else's money+time first.

Never go into business with a good friend unless you have completely different jobs..but even then..beware.

Research research research....have a plan...but even then, you won't really ever be prepared for what you learn in the first year.

Have a money plan!

Five favorite things about living & working in L.A.?

* It's always 78 degrees outside, so you are always able to drive/move fabric/carry patterns down the street without having weather issues. This also means you can have BBQs in tank tops at 5pm in January, like I did last week.

* We have crazy fun dance classes like that at thesweatspotla.com

* There are a ton of bars and restaurants to go to, and when you are just about bored of them, a new one comes in and takes over the space. It's a good thing because it changes the city up...it's a bad thing because that means the places stop making money...but in many cases (or the ones that I am talking about), it's the actual owners that made a ton in the couple years it was open and they go back in and revamp it... And yes, I still love little dive bars and nook in the wall restaurants that have been there forever.

* Coffee shops.. I live a lot of my life at coffee shops these days. If I'm not downtown with patternmakers or contractors etc or at someone's office, I am visiting a different coffee shop to work on my laptop. I have my studio to work at, but I like the variety and changing it up.

* There are a ton of places to escape to for the weekend nearby: Joshua Tree, Palm Springs, Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez Wine Country and many spots to snowboard and camp.

Take more pictures. I'm the person at the party that is annoyed at the person at that party who wants to keep taking photos. But when we're old (and missing our youth) we'll probably want said photos.

Organize My Files (The Digital Ones). Speaking of memories my computer memory is out of control. I need to go through everything and organize. I'm a digital mess.

Eat More Fruit and Vegetables. I'm pretty much on an all carb/all peanut butter diet right now. That needs to change.

Plan My Outfits Out. Okay I recognize this sounds like a really shallow resolution but you know those days when in line to get your morning coffee you realize you can't stand what you're wearing--I'd like to avoid that in 2012.

Call My Family More. Seeing as I need to make up for the resolution above... Constantly in communication, never really talking. I've grown comfortable communicating via text, Facebook messages, emails, but it's not the same. I resolute to rack up my phone bill next year.

WEAR: This month, there's only a few things on my mind: a great leather jacket (a la Rick Owens),

fun accessories, and all of the fall classics in CAMEL color. I may have jumped on the camel bandwagon more than anyone else I can think of, but can you blame me? Fall is all about blazers, trench coats, and sweaters. But, all of these classics in camel gives them a whole new feel. I'm obsessed. If you have one piece of each style in this color, you're set for months. For example, pair a camel colored blazer with black pants and one of this seasons other coolest trends, a turtleneck, and you'll be the best dressed guy around. I promise.

WATCH: Call me crazy, but I can't get into the fall drama's taking over the tube.

However, what I am really into right now are comedies...and by comedies, I mean two in particular. One: Last Man Standing...

Tim Allen makes his return to TV and I couldn't be more excited. Think Home Improvement, but take out all of the tool man's sons and replace them with a house full of girls. Basically, you're bound to laugh. Also, I'm not sure if I should be embarrassed by this or not, but our favorite wise-guys from the 90's are back with a whole new spin: Beavis and Butthead. Okay, so it used to be really funny when they poked fun at all of the ridiculous metal music videos that MTV showed, but since MTV has lost it's M, B+B have moved on to something even funnier: the ridiculous shows we watch today on TV, like Jersey Shore and The Bachelorette.

Seriously, check it out.

LISTEN: I really have been listening to only one album on repeat for the past few weeks, but I know you've all been doing the same thing. Adele's 21 is by far my favorite album of the year (Did I recently go through a breakup? I'll let you decide). We've all heard Someone Like You and Rolling in the Deep, but have you heard One and Only or Set Fire to the Rain? Check it out. And, as you can tell,

I just want to dance this fall. (My picks might be preparing me to move to Paris?)

Victoria of ElleVictoire is one of my favorites. Each week is so simplified into basic outfits with

always a touch of of sophistication and edge. This one proves it, nothing like a Ralph Lauren

cashmere sweater, leather pants and Converse.

You had me at mustard @HanneliM and then you paired it with those skinny burgundy jeans and sophisticated heels. Sigh.

So much sequins and it's barely November. We love @NatalieOffduty in sequins, because it's

The Shredded Tee To Wear All-Year Round

What is more versatile than a t-shirt? The KukkoonShredded Tee plays off the classic white tee and makes it infinitely more interesting and fun to dress up and dress down with just a few little twists. Because of the fishtail length, the tee can be worn over jeans for a more downplayed demure look or over dresses, skirts and shorts for a nice play on lengths.

The pocket on the front gives it a little more personality as does the hand-shredded detail on the back which provides a nice subtle surprise. Overall the tee is not scream-in-your-face-look-at-me but it gives off a slight nonchalant yet effortlessly cool vibe that has been characterized as very Mary Kate Olsen and no one can deny that girl has style.

It was an East Coast/West Coast collaboration (how often does that happen?) with two cool brands, Supadupa Vintage and SGC-NY. Both design teams wanted to marry the seasons into simple, unique one of a kind tees that girls who love t-shirts can wear all year round.

These cool shredded tees are 100% hand dyed, hand shredded and only a few were made.
Get it while you can, it is the perfect staple piece for any season and here is how to do so:

Summer (for you Aussie's out there): Wear the tee with ittsy bitsy denim shorts, sky-high platforms and tons of fun jewelry to add a little pizzazz to an overall simple, perfect summer outfit.

Fall (East Coast friendly): Grab those sheer tights and top it off with a chunky cardigan, suede or leather shorts, a floppy velvet hat, and black flats for a look that will ooze coolness.

Winter (hello, layers, let's get creative!): Get in those corduroy skinnies that have been popping up everywhere and wear it with the tee, a nice chunky circle scarf and an oversized beanie.

Understated put together, and fun, pairing this combo with a short peacoat will allow the tee to peak out underneath and draw attention to the shredded detail.

Spring (see, this style is a classic and one of a kind): Pair the tee with a cute high waisted skirt and military-inspired boots for a chic yet distressed look.

WEAR: This fall I'm all about neutral colors, leather, and yes, still going strong with plaid! After a long Spring and Summer of brights and neons, I'm craving the basics: A classic camel trench coat, crisp white shirts and dresses, denim, and black leather-- jackets and skirts. A plaid flannel on a cold day will never go out of style, but I like my plaids on dresses, skirts, and scarves. Rain boots and hats are also a must; I practically live in my olive green Hunter Boots during Fall and Winter, and I can't wait to break them out again. I'm not much of a hat girl, but I do love a great fedora. If you're looking for a good one, Madewell and Rag and Bone have great options. No matter the season, jewelry is a must! This Fall, I'm feeling lots of silver and mixed metals. Nothing looks fresher than gold and silver paired together.

WATCH: When it gets cold outside, there's nothing better than a movie night. Scary movies in October are a must, and my favorites are old school thrillers from the 70s and 80s. One of my favorites is The Changeling-- (NOT the Angelia Jolie movie, btw). This one traumatized me when I saw it, and will make you want to sleep with the lights on! On another note, I'm so excited to see Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn, which will be in theaters on November 23rd. Vogue did a great piece on Michelle and her amazing transformation into MM for this movie-- read it here!

LISTEN: I'm also looking forward to Florence + The Machine's new album, Ceremonials, which will be released on Halloween (well, November 1st in the US). I've heard a preview and it's SO GOOD. WEAR. My October style set reflects a current obsession with Miroslava Duma. It's not just her personal style that makes me swoon at every snapshot, but it's her put-together-ness that intrigues me. I am never going to be that girl. One of my bestfriends is a total Miroslava, in college she dressed like a junior Donna Karan to class, while I was in Nirvana t-shirts and torn jeans. Someone told her early on that you dress for the job you want and the goals you're trying to achieve. So, October is a transition month, out with the old style, in with the new upgrade. Nothing too drastic, still gotta be me, but I am going by this mantra, "Dress like Bill Cunningham is around the corner." Game changer.

By my pre-teens, music videos were an entrance into the world of creativity. We didn't have blogs, we had MTV and their after-hours programming introduced me to all time favorite bands like The Pixies, Mazzy Star, Suede, Kurt Cobain and back then VJ's were the elite.

LISTEN. My October mixtape officially kicks in fall for not just my wardrobe, but listening rotation. I tend to tuck away the fast track synth-soundtracks and bust out with some mellow indie sets like Camera Obscura, North Highlands, jazzy rockabilly classics and a lot of old school rock. Anything that goes with a sweater and a John Hughes film.

EAT. What I really love about October is the candy corn extravaganza that happens from now until early November. It should be eaten all year round. - MJ

It’s evident that we are swooning over fall, but so is Helena from Brooklyn Blonde. Known for her eclectic envy-inducing, drool-worthy style that ranges from feminine chic to sophisticated classy, the girl is a wizard at fashion mixology with the way she can take anything and transform it into something that can only be classified as “Brooklyn Blonde.” We wanted to hear what the blonde bombshell can’t survive fall without and she gladly spills what makes her feel cozy and yummy.

5 things that Helena cannot live without this fall:

1. Scarves: I actually wear scarves year round since I'm always chilly, so my scarf collection has gotten pretty large.

2. Candles that smell like the Fall: Anything from pumpkin spice to caramel apple and my current favorite is "Autumn"
from Bath & Body Works.

3. Red Wine: There's something about the crisp fall air that makes me want to get cozy at a cafe (or on my couch) with a glass of red.

4. Pumpkin Bread: The cooler seasons always bring out the inner baker in me and making pumpkin bread is my favorite. The house smells like cinnamon and nutmeg and nothing goes better with your morning cup of coffee. Click here for the recipe.

5.Nail Polish: I love experimenting with different nail colors year round and once fall arrives, I definitely go for the deeper colors. I'm currently loving Essie "Carry On" and "Power Clutch."

MUST WEAR: I can’t wait to add fuchsia, rust, peacock blue and navy into my fall wardrobe. I love all things men inspired; I love collar tops, masculine lines and Ivy League chic. On the other hand, I want to mix and match girly with tough, like tulle and leather.

MUST SEE: I am SO looking forward to finally finding time to see Drive, LIKE CRAZY, The Ides of March, and Anonymous. I love that there’s such a nice touch of movies that fall into the serious category amongst the array of chick flicks (which I am also a devoted fan of, shh!)

MUST HEAR: I’ve fallen quite into the groove of the musical styling of The Kooks, Friendly Fires, MGMT, and Two Door Cinema Club. That’s not to say I don’t love my quality, soft pretty, I want to fall madly in love right now music like Joshua Radin, Kate Nash, and Jason Mraz. I’m just a music sponge, okay? I love everything and anything, throw out a song at me and I’ll be down. Music swapping? Hit me up!

I remember this photo from one of my favorite chapters in my Business Development textbook.

I lived and went to college in Silicon Valley. In other words, I was under the Steve Jobs spell, lived in an Apple bubble. My first iMac was bright turquoise, from there the loyalty continued with an iBook, Powerbook G5, iMac G5 desktop, an iPod and an iPod mini and currently a Macbook. 2012 will be my year of the Mac Air.

Not only do I own almost everything that he has ever invented, but I take pieces of his personal wisdom to heart. I have been saying "creative genius" ever since I heard Steve say it aloud to my graduating business class.

Lucy Hale: Already one of the stars in a must-watch, teen cult following, hit show, Pretty Little Liars; 21-year old Lucy Hale is making splashes everywhere. Being part of the ensemble that won the Cast to Watch Awards at the 2011 Young Hollywood Awards, it's obvious why we're keeping all eyes on her. With a new movie in production, Downers Grove, we think she'll make a name for herself, one that isn't being stalked by pesky little A.

Elle Fanning: Star of the summer hit, Super 8, Elle is way beyond her years. Forget the fact that the fresh-faced star is only 13 years old, she has a career anyone would kill for, having modeled for Marc Jacobs, filmed two movies just this year and known for her taste in making high-fashion age appropriate, Elle is well on her way to the top and we can't wait to see what she does next.

Hailee Steinfeld: With over a dozen nominations for her breakout role in True Grit, Hailee is the name on everyone's lips. Acting alongside Matt Damon surely helped that along, but her acting chops speak for themselves, especially when the star is merely 14 years old. With her role of Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, set to release in 2012, we are eager to see if she'll be the next big one.

Atlanta de Cadenet Taylor: First, let's start with her lineage. Her dad is John Taylor of Duran Duran, her mom is a famous photographer/former British TV host and party girl, Amanda de Cadenet, her stepdad is Nick Valensi of The Strokes. Not a bad start. Recently signed to DNA Models, she has already been in French Vogue and stars in the current Net-A-Porter campaign, not to mention that she is all over Tumblr and a notoriety amongst fashion blogs. She's well known for her signature mix of free spirited hippie, party girl, hipster style, Atlanta is sure to pop up in magazines all over the place (we're betting on Nylon next).

Chloe Moretz: At the ripe age of 14, Chloe has already been in movies like Kick-Ass, (500) Days of Summer, Diary of A Wimpy Kid and Let Me In. With an impressive record like that, it's no wonder we are betting on her to enter the big ring. With five movies set to come out in the next two years, Chloe will constantly and consistently be on our radar, just the way we like it.

Rooney Mara: As if landing the coveted Girl with the Dragon Tattoo role wasn't enough of an accomplishment, Rooney is also acting and co-producing another film, Emanuel and the Truth About the Fishes. Keeping busy seems like only one of the many things that the 26 year old enjoys, as she is also known for her work with Faces of Kibera, a charity that provides housing, food and medical care for orphans in Kenya. Gorgeous, good willed, an actress and producer? Sounds like A+ Tinsletown material!
