Coming Soon to (the shop): A Special Capsule Collection by Geronimo

Geronimo x DNA (the shop) from Designers And Artists on Vimeo.

We're excited to share with you a special capsule collection by LA based brand Geronimo, debuting Monday on DNA (the shop). The collection features perfect transitional pieces for the last warm days of the year, which will also look great layered with tights and cozy sweaters for the upcoming fall. We're crazy about all of the pieces in this collection, but we cannot wait to wear the leather and lace gown this Holiday season as well as the two piece swim suit which we'll be packing for our winter getaway when we escape freezing NYC!!

Special thanks to Oliver Maxwell Kupper for video and photography and Jenny Lee for Makeup and Hair.

Alexa Chung, The San Francisco Treat

Our intern Anisa took to the San Francisco streets, her target, Alexa Chung who made a cameo splash to celebrate her Madewell collection.  It was a special night indeed since our young protege is Alexa Obsessed. (Clinical term, google it)

What's a road trip without your bestie Tennessee Thomas? (Also hands-on DJ)

Don't Fear the Stripes.

What is not to love about a striped top? Nothing, if you can think of something then you are the world’s biggest cynic and hater of all things fun and pretty! While we are kidding (well, sort of), it really is the absolute perfect top to wear with just about anything. Stripes can be mixed and matched with ease, pair it with corduroy skirts, pink jeans, anything floral, high waisted denim, maxi skirts, dark trousers, we could go on and on because the possibilities are literally endless.

The Striped 3/4 Crop Top is officially a classic.  The variations of it worn by film and fashion legends from Brigitte Bardot and Coco Chanel.  Not only does it feature the classic horizontal navy stripes but it also trimmed off some of the fat and became a crop top. The addition of the 3/4 sleeves, the top is now fall-appropriate and approved as it is perfect for those sort-of-not-really-cold-or-hot breeze days that we love so much.

TIPS:
If the only problem you have with the striped top is the constant fear of looking too Sailor Jerry or Popeye, we have the perfect solution for that. Simply stay away from pairing navy with red (and leave those fishnets at home, in the garbage, around the corner on the curb) and it will be smooth sailing from here on out.

PAIR IT WITH:
- Florals, you'll be charmed and surprised by how so much going on can look very right.
- Flats.  Stripes speak casual, so lay off the platforms or leave that one for the Kardashians.
- Blazer.  Menswear inspired combinations are so chic.

MYTH: Stripes do not make you look fat.  Repeat that.

The Importance of Loving James Franco

James Franco; the overachieving student, versatile actor, curator, director, writer, and just overall sexy beast, now has a tote bag dedicated to him and his wonderful face. It only seems natural that a tote bag would be devoted to his being and the only issue we hold is the fact that it took this many years for such a tote to be made!

Not only does the “I Love James Franco” tote revive tote bags from the brink of death, from a bag that is seen as a sloppy last resort into an instant must-have, but it also allows everyone to carry a little James Franco with them in their everyday lives. Wouldn’t having James Franco’s face accompanying your side when you are running late to class, buying groceries, or carrying baby diapers just make everything seem relatively better, if not purely awesome? We sure do!

Still not convinced? Let’s get down to business then. If his face alone is not enough to get you rushing to your wallets and pulling out that credit card (which is unbelievable), then perhaps the dimensions of the tote will. It is true, little sling bags are all the rage at the moment, but really, how much can you fit in there? A pack of gum, your cell phone, and maybe a tiny wallet? That is only if you are lucky. Well, with this tote being 15”x11”x5”, you can fit everything you need, and then some! Never again will you have to pick and choose what is “important” or “necessary,” just take your life with you! You never know when you will need that handy dandy bubble gun or that extra sweater.

On top of it all, as if you needed more persuasion, the tote is only $20! For just $20, you could be toting around your whole life, have James Franco’s essence with you for always, and not break the bank. Convinced yet? Get yours here.

New Blood: Meet Our Intern Anisa

Meet our newest addition to the team: Anisa, an avid student & style blogger by day/night and our PR & Social Media Intern everywhere in between.  We are so excited to have her on board as our "right-hand gal" because we have huge projects on the horizon.  To get to know Anisa, we asked her to tell us only 5 things about her. Anything.

* I'm an avid thrifter to the point that I rarely shop retail anymore.  Over 65% of my closet comes from the Salvation Army, Goodwill, Thrift Town, Buffalo Exchange and tons of others that I love shifting through.
* Classic Disney sing-a-longs are my choice of tunes on a daily basis, especially when I'm cooking (and I use the term cook very loosely a.k.a. make omelets and use the microwave).  [FYI Anisa, I can sing to the top of my lungs to Little Mermaid's 'Part of Your World.']
* I'm obsessed with Alexa Chung: from her messy tousled hair to her nonchalant roll-out-of-bed-looking-like-a-rock star style to her charming English accent.  She dominates my inspiration wall.

HARPERS ALEXA CHUNG from Darren McDonald on Vimeo.

* I love eating anything covered with avocados.  Whether it's an avocado sandwich, a salad with avocado, or just a whole avocado, I'll eat it all up and ask for seconds and maybe thirds.  [Okay, it's like we're sisters.]
* My dream, ever since the sixth grade, is to live in London doing something that I absolutely love and drinking tea at noon with crumpets.

Obviously, she had us at Alexa.  Follow Anisa on Twitter: @nisasaurous and of course you can always find her here.
