What We Love: Dannijo Fall '11 Video

I love the new Dannijo Fall ‘11 video. The prairie-chic aesthetic is the perfect background to the Fall collection. The statement pieces are absolutely stunning, featuring think chains, rough-cut stones, and artfully manipulated wire – I want it all! Set to the tune “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac (how appropriate!), the short film beautifully displays the collection and leaves me wanting more.

XOXO,
Alex

Saturday Fashion Flashback: Prada Fall 2000

As we power through F/W Fashion Week season and look towards the future, we're taking a moment to remember the past and reflect at the epic-ness of Prada's Fall 2000 collection. Who can forget those red-lip and lipstick skirts?! Mustards and browns have never looked so chic! And may we point out, Miuccia was doing the pant-less look waaayy before a certain someone. And the ads? Genius. We'll stop right there. (LV)

Our New Favorite Menswear: @BurkmanBros #sf #nyc #losangeles

With the craziness of New York Fashion Week behind us, we can now clear our heads and take a look at what came from it. One thing we’re super excited about is the Burkman Bros new series called Shop-in-Shop. Launched in celebration of NYFW, the Shop-in-Shop series is an exclusive launch of the duo’s spring 2011 products. This series will include retail build-outs at some of the hottest stores around. In San Francisco, the Shop-in-Shop will be featured exclusively at Welcome Stranger. It will also be featured at Odin New York, Bloomingdales 59th Street, and Ron Herman in Los Angeles.

Doug and Ben Burkman started off as young entrepreneurs in Canada with a variety of business ventures to fund their wardrobes. After perfecting their skills as designers for Gap Inc., it became pretty clear to everyone that they would soon venture out and establish their own label.

With an honest feel, the Burkman Bros created a line that is cool and masculine, natural and wearable. Taking inspiration from their far travels, the Burkman brothers have created a line that takes a utilitarian look at classic American menswear with a subtle and simple infuse of their worldly travels. Called “utilitarian, effortless, and classic” by Out Magazine and “preppy yet relaxed – an American in Calcutta, if you will” by Valet Magazine, the Burkman brothers have made a name for themselves creating timeless menswear, making men feel comfortable and masculine, and sticking to their “if I wouldn’t wear it, I wouldn’t make it” attitude.

Basketweave Safari jacket, Sub Stripe hooded shirt, Blue Dobby shirt
patterned shorts
friendship bracelets
I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to head over to Welcome Stranger to get a look first hand. And don’t forget, the Shop-in-Shop series is also in New York and LA, so run, don’t walk, because it’s sure to be a pop-up worth checking out.

xx

What We Love: Mother Denim

Lela Tillem and Tim Kaeding, the designing duo of Mother, are not new to the jean game.  Tillem, formerly from Citizens of Humanity and Kaeding from Seven for All Mankind, both carry high authority on the style and quality of denim.  Mother could know best and is the cure to my obsessive wide leg blues.
