All Vintage Everything Designer Spotlight: Lost Feather Vintage

When DNA began scouting for local vintage collectors to feature at All Vintage Everything, we were thrilled to find Lost Feather Vintage by Amy Rossi. Amy’s been collecting vintage for 7 years and it all began in her college days when she'd hit up local thrift stores for costume parties. There she would become distracted by cool concert tees from long- gone eras and beautiful vintage dresses. “I love how each of the pieces are older, wiser, and have endured the test of time to stylize itself into this growing new era. I love all the incomparable character packed into each dress and top," she says. Amy also realized the potential each unique piece of vintage has, “ Everything can be tweaked and reconstructed into something new while preserving the original quality through vibrant fabrics,” she says. That's the beauty of vintage, it can be special on its own or re-worked into something new. So how is a lover of vintage able to let go of great finds to sell in her shop? For Amy, it hasn’t been easy. "I am almost embarrassed to admit how many clothes I keep that I find. I try not get myself attached but can't help it sometimes,"she says. Among her collection you’ll find 60's flowy pleated blouses, 70's, airy ethnic dresses, and 80's structured blazers. Her personal style is a mix of current and vintage pieces. She loves anything with bright eccentric retro patterns, to soft feminine and flowy. “I definitely try to keep it balanced,” she says. Besides vintage, Amy has a great love for San Francisco and all its cool spots: “My husband and I love date nights in the city. We love the Sushi Grove and this little shop called Ike's Place that has great sandwiches for those days in the park. One of my favorite days in San Francisco was when he proposed in front of the MOMA museum in the Yerba Buena Garden. We love to shop on Haight & Ashbury for great boutiques and unique vintage shops that can truly be an inspiration.” Come meet Amy and her amazing collection of vintage tomorrow at Storefront! 644 Laguna Street (Hayes/Grove). Noon-6pm.

All Vintage Everything Designer Spotlight: May and June

Want a sneak peek at some of the cool offerings at tomorrows All Vintage Everything? Local San Francisco designer Megan Quirolo of May and June will be selling her vintage inspired line of breezy, pretty dresses just in time for the warm summer months ahead. At 27, Megan has been making clothes for 5 years, and was inspired to start designing when she couldn’t find anything she wanted to wear in her closet. Comfort and versatility are very important to her and she wants her clothes to become staples in anyone’s closet. “I want to make clothing that people want to pull out of their closet the first thing after laundry day! That's my #1 goal, to be the first thing you want to wear out of your closet of newly washed clothes.” When it comes to personal style, Megan describes herself as the quintessential San Francisco girl, pairing cowboy boots with dresses, wearing florescents and florals, and funky accessories. She also loves “Vintage paired with low-end, paired with high-end. A mish-mash of influences, but always colorful and uniquely SF”. When she’s not making clothes, Megan’s favorites things to do in the City include eating at Ike's, Papalote, and Paxti's; vintage hunting at Thrift Town, Crossroads (but ONLY on Fillmore), and Wasteland; and mixing a little work and fun at Brisa Elizabeth's $5 Art Parties 5dollarartparty.tumblr.com where she sells her work there once a month. Megan will be selling her beautiful designs tomorrow at Storefront: 644 Laguna Street (Hayes/Grove). Noon-6pm. Come by!!

Line to LOVE: Fairground

The name Fairground is one synonymous with beguiling fashion and equally beguiling wearers, a fact never truer than of their new Spring 2010 collection, 'Smells like Women'. This new collection takes root in the notion of the autonomous, headstrong woman; one who lives, loves and laughs on her on terms. She is the epitome of undone femininity and liberated passions, an individual of private desires and public spectacle. This Fairground girl is not a victim; she is a modern day Eve who sees the apple and doesn't hesitate in taking a bite. She dances the line of chance and then leads with her galvanized heart.

Line to LOVE: Lake & Stars

Named after a Victorian euphemism for a woman’s skill in the bedroom, The Lake and Stars intimates balance provocation and humor, intelligence and sensuality, for a new vision of feminine style. Streamlined lingerie and swimwear find a place among more traditional lingerie essentials, for creative pairings that revive the classic and redefine the seductive. Designed to stand alone or in complement to other clothes, the pieces themselves embody a broader view of lingerie as fashion expression, rather than costume. Their clean lines and assertive detailing describe unique stylistic characters all their own, making them as personal as they are diverse, and as accessible as they are luxurious. They are intimates meant to be seen.

For Spring 2010, designers Nikki Dekker and Maayan Zilberman looked to accidental heroines in films such as feminist thriller “Day of the Woman” (’78) or Marion Ravenwood in “Raiders of the Lost Ark”. The result is a bold proposition on what their woman would wear in the bedroom, on the go, and in the water.
